Marriage Licenses in Massachusetts

Marriage licenses can be obtained from any Massachusetts city or town hall. To apply for a marriage license, the couple must go to the Town Clerk’s office together, and both must be at least 18 years of age or obtain a court waiver from a probate or district court. Identification is needed and you may be required to show a certified birth certificate. There is a mandatory three day waiting period from the application date and the license is then valid for 60 days. For information specific to your town, please visit Commonwealth Communities or call the Citizen Information Service at 617-727-7030 or 800-392-6090.

About Gwendolyn Holbrow

I am a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, and my personal faith is in a divine Life Force that dwells in each of us and permeates the natural world. In addition to officiating at weddings, I am a sculptor, web designer and art instructor. In my art, as in a wedding, I serve as a conduit between the seen and the unseen worlds, and work to form new connections. To learn more about my work, please visit my art website or my design website. I live in Framingham with my husband of 28 years, and we have four wonderful children. To make an appointment or for more information, please call me at 508-872-2047.

About the Universal Life Church

The Universal Life Church was founded by Rev. Kirby Hensley in 1959. Rev. Hensley believed that all persons must seek their own spiritual path, and that all should be accepted regardless of their faith. The Universal Life Church has two tenets of belief: promote freedom of religion, and do what is right. For more information, visit the church online at ulc.net.
